Dakota tracked 1,231 private capital transactions in August, representing $315.8B in disclosed value. Disclosed value increased 67% from July, led by several large technology acquisitions and take-private transactions. A meaningful number of additional transactions were announced without disclosed terms.

Information technology, financial services, and health care led by disclosed value. Corporate acquisitions, buyouts, and venture investments accounted for the largest share of transaction volume. Fundraising was concentrated in infrastructure and direct lending, while several large private equity, secondaries, and venture funds continued to raise capital ahead of expected final closes.

Key Developments – August 2026

  • Technology Led Transaction Activity: Information technology recorded $108.3B in disclosed value, driven by SpaceX’s $60.0B acquisition of Cursor and Nvidia’s $12.9B acquisition of Hugging Face.
  • KKR Raised Its Largest Infrastructure Fund: KKR closed Global Infrastructure Investors V at $19.2B. Energy Capital Partners also raised $8.1B for ECP VI, more than 50% above its original target.
  • Direct Lending Funds Exceeded Their Targets: Bridgepoint Direct Lending IV raised €5.1B and Comvest Credit Partners VII raised $5.4B, with both funds closing above target.
  • Take-Privates Accounted for Several Major Transactions: Prologis’s $18.8B acquisition of SEGRO was August’s second-largest transaction. Other take-private deals involved H&R Real Estate Investment Trust, ReNew Energy Global, and Steadfast Group.
  • Insurance Brokerage Consolidation Produced a $17.0B Deal: Aon acquired USI Holdings from KKR and Integrum Holdings in August’s third largest transaction.
